How this is worked out

Pay and DA

  • Basic pay comes from the 7th CPC Pay Matrix, or the UGC Academic Pay Matrix for teachers. Each step in a level is 3% higher, rounded to the nearest ₹100.
  • Dearness Allowance is a percentage of basic pay. It is 60% from January 2026, or the rate you choose.

House Rent Allowance

  • HRA is a percentage of basic pay by city class: 30/20/10% when DA is 50% or more, 27/18/9% between 25% and 50%, and 24/16/8% below 25%.
  • Minimum HRA is ₹5,400 (X), ₹3,600 (Y) and ₹1,800 (Z) a month.
  • The city search uses the X and Y city lists. Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad are treated as Delhi. Any city not listed is Class Z.

Transport Allowance

  • Uses the 7th CPC slabs by level, with X class cities treated as higher-rate cities, plus DA on the allowance.

8th Pay Commission estimates

  • New basic pay = 7th CPC basic pay × the fitment factor you choose, rounded to ₹100.
  • DA restarts at 0% unless you choose otherwise. HRA uses the 8th CPC rates you pick (today’s 30/20/10% by default). Transport allowance follows the 7th CPC rules.

Arrears

  • For each month from the effective date until the new pay starts: 8th CPC pay due minus 7th CPC pay actually paid, on basic pay and DA (plus HRA and transport allowance if you tick them).
  • DA on both sides rises by the amount you choose every January and July, and the yearly increment is added every July.
  • Tax on arrears is worked out for the year you receive them, with Section 89 relief if selected.

Allowances and deductions

  • Allowances and deductions you add use the same monthly amount in both pay commissions.
  • Suggested amounts (CGHS and CGEGIS by level, Children Education Allowance for one child, professional tax) can be edited.
  • NPS/UPS is the percentage you set of basic pay plus DA.

Income tax

  • Worked out for a full year at the monthly pay shown, using the new and old regime slab rates from the Union Budget 2025, with the standard deduction, 87A rebate, surcharge and 4% cess.
